Songs: The Good Life (1999)
This song was written about my life before the turn of the millenium. I was living on the South side of Milwaukee with my now ex-girlfriend Laura. It was one of the most depressing times of my life as the lyrics will show. I spent much of my time in a muddy Oxy/Valium haze, bartending at The Globe West (a heavy metal bar). Somehow I made it through that time.I'm bitter it's cold as shit here
That asshole next door's worried about me
My cat's crying and I'm flying
The door's open and I'm choking on the air
The smell lingers
My burnt fingers
The parking spot
Blue bored rot
The cracked out smile
Wait a while
The bus missed me I'm buying whiskey
Fast food and loose fucks
The pay phone's collecting moans
Sooner or later my mind is going to give
And that's the good life I live
Crazy lazy access
Rescue good life alright
TV keep me sober
Last chance romance tonight
The smell lingers
My burnt fingers
The parking spot
Blue bored rot
The cracked out smile
Wait a while
